I called into sports radio once (WFAN here in the NYC area). I called in because we tried to go to Game 4 of the '99 ALCS in Boston. (After Roger's disasterous performance in Game 3, we thought our boys needed some support). Anyway, we got spit on by some Sox fans.. and chased away from Fenway & the cops were supporting our taunters. That same night, as we drove home (too scared to park & find tickets) we listened to the game and heard that the fans were throwing stuff on the field so I called in & asked if Chucky was okay. Chucky (pre-finding out about his juicing) was my favorite. Don't worry though, Pat. A few years after this, I met Big Papi. I still really llike him. My Yankees love has disipated since the three years in a row that they didn't pick me for the YES Network Road Trip. ALSO, like the nice things you heard about ARod at your game, I heard some pleasantries being hurled at the Blue Jays a few weeks ago. I don't hold grudges against teams but I do try to distance myself from over-zealous fans.

When we need scores or updates, it is sometimes fun to listen to the sports babble for a few callers. After that, it all blends in.

I like watching sports, but don't like listening to interviews or sports radio. Athletes are paid or overpaid to play and if it doesn't happen on the field/pitch/ice surface/court/course/pit/ring/rink/table/log/route/track ... I don't want to hear about it.

For others ... whatever floats their boat.
